TransCore, based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the largest global manufacturer of transportation-based RFID, with more than 96.2 million RFID tags and over 101,000 readers designed, developed and shipped. Senior management insisted that a move to a new system be justified by tangible financial return, not just functional improvement, and set an initial target of cutting annual manufacturing operations cost by at least 1 percent through lower on-hand inventory.
